Allison watched a tutorial on how to draw a male and female face and this is what she ended up with.

Rainy May

Pecan Hollow used to flood all the time until they reworked the course to add a lot of drainage.  But setting a record for rain in May makes a golf course turn into a lake.

Color Run 2015

Today was the Maverick Color Run which is a 3 mile loop starting from Kimbrough stadium.  The wrinkle is that at four "color stations" they splash the runners with color.  Also, every runner is given a color packet at registration so there was much to do before the start.

Here we are all fresh at the start (if not still clean).

Then we're a bit more colorful at the finish if a bit worn down with color in Allison's eye and Jason sneezing and wheezing with a bad back.

Allison and I recovered after a Sonic Slushy.

Got some photos of Jason and Allison's finishing kick!

Spring Cub Scout Camping 2015

The spring cub scout camping trip was to Camp Constantine in Possum Kingdom Mar 27-29.   While the camp was still winterized (no running water) and the pack started eating healthy (no donuts) and leaving no trace (clean your dishes each meal), I think this was one of Jason's favorite camps.

There was the usual fun of camping, archery, tree climbing, and hiking.

This time Jason got to do leather working and he very much enjoys the bracelet he created.   Thanks Nancy!   He also got his own carving knife and enjoyed an almost clean moment carving soap.

This year, the pack also set up bottle rocket action.  Thanks Darryl!

But I think the most fun he had was just hanging out with his friends playing tag, capture the flag, and the occasional race.

Golf Weekend

Inspired by Jordan Spieth's win at the Masters, we did a bit of golfing this weekend.  I took off Friday morning and played Pecan Hollow with David and Oma.

The next day I got Allison and Jason out to the range and 5 hole short course.  They both have aggressive swings, but Allison is more stylish sporting the sunglasses.

At first they had trouble connecting with the ball and hit the ground a lot. But they improved rapidly and played pretty well.  Here they are on the range, but both Jason and Allison hit at least one green on the short course.

I Can't Drive 55

Yesterday was the Cub Scout pinewood derby competition.  Jason is a Webelo I in the Dragon Patrol this year.  He spent considerable more time on the car than in years past.   Thanks to Mikel White for teaching him the use of the band saw, a belt sander, and a drill press.   Jason also learned what is supposed to go into a garage in our 2 trips over to Mikel's house.

At the competition check in, they arbitrarily assign your car a sticker number.  Jason got lucky 55 which made me think of Sammy Haggar.

There were a lot of Webelo cars this year and each car ran 6 heats, one in each lane.   Jason didn't place in the top 3 overall, but he did win 2 of his 6 heats.   Pretty good since most of the cars were made by Dads rather than Cubscouts.   I can say that Jason did most of his car including the critical axle installation.   Nice job Jason!

Jason's 2015 Pinewood Derby Car.  Note that he tilted the back wheels at an angle - he saw on a Youtube video that speeds up the car.   The black smears are graphite (aka "speed" of which he liberally applied everywhere).   He thought the black marks made the car look like hard working lightning.

Edge Dance Frozen Spectacular

After our trip to San Francisco where we listened to the soundtrack of Frozen for about 5 hours, Sophie decided she didn't want to listen to any Frozen music any more.   Naturally, then she took the role of Anna in the Edge dance Frozen Spectacular and got to rehearse to the music for about 50 hours!

The Whole Crew

Do you want to build a snowman?

Killer and not yet dead Sophie

One of my favorites even though Sophie is not in focus, she looks like she is just effortlessly floating!
One of 5 roles she danced
Who knew she was getting to play / dance with swords?  Jason should have joined the musical.
The Matrix!

Allison's 1st Ski Run

It's a beautiful blue ski day in Copper Mountain and Allison just completed her first solo ski run down the Kokomo trail.   She'd gotten about 1/2 way down a couple times before, but couldn't control her speed on the bottom part of the trail and that scared her.   This afternoon we warmed up with some jumps on the Lumberjack trail.  Also practice "pizza" on that run before heading back to Kokomo.

As a side note, a couple days ago Allison saw me spin around to ski backwards and kinda freaked out. Today, I was scolded for texting while skiing backwards.

Jason's First Soccer Game

Jason played his first soccer game today.   He decided to play soccer this spring instead of baseball and joined the Stars in RSA.   Jason enjoyed his morning at Breckenridge park.

Daddy Daughter Bowling

Today was a Girl Scout event - Daddy / Daughter bowling and I got to bowl with my two girls.   Allison had not really bowled before and she was really scared and tentative at first.   But as the video below shows, she warmed up to it.

I love my girls!

Jason and Allison are learning to use the Boogie board to body surf.
No waves available, just ice.

Camp Constantin

Jason and I got to spend one cold night with pack 1776 at Camp Constantin.

We set up the great tent that the Lipes lent us as close as Jason could arrange to the Ferenczhalmy tent.

The morning started with a hike to the lake and back.

Then Jason got to shoot a bunch of things:

But his favorite activity was tree climbing.

Vacation at Primland

Paula and I got away for a few days at Primland without the kids (thanks Oma and Nana!  (and Uncle David and Aunt Rhonda!)).   After an enjoyable dinner catching up with the Kopps in Greensboro, we drove up to the resort the next day.   I played some golf.

Paula was chauffeur and drove the cart over hill and dale.   There were many beautiful views from the course.
My cart babe

Here's a shot of the hotel itself.    They have smores available to roast on the fire on the back porch every night.  Our room was the 2nd window on the right on the top floor.   You can just see the round portion of the hotel on the right.  The bottom floor is the golf clubhouse.  The 3rd floor is the library.  The top floor is the observatory.

We spent a rainy morning in the library

Primland library has views in 270 deg directions

Then did some hiking and sightseeing.
